7 bathroom plants that don’t need a green thumb

A touch of green makes every room in the house more pleasant and welcoming, so today we’re going to try adding it to our favourite room: here are our top 7 best plants for the bathroom!

  • Aloe vera. First on the list is one of the most resistant plants, which will give you great satisfaction because it needs little water and indirect light. Its fleshy, spiny leaves will have a nice filling effect, whether placed on the floor or on a shelf.
  • Aspidistra. This evergreen plant also needs little light and water. It is very elegant with its long, shiny dark green leaves, which can reach 50 cm in length. Ideal for placing on the floor in a corner of the bathroom.
  • Aglaonema. Excellent for purifying the air, this evergreen plant native to Asia needs humidity and low or indirect light. Its oval, variegated leaves, which are light green and white or pink in colour, will decorate your home like a work of art.
  • The philodendron. Its unique heart-shaped or lobed leaves, which are bright green or variegated, also lend themselves to being hung from a hook suspended from the ceiling for a particularly striking effect. It is a climbing plant native to tropical America, which needs humidity and indirect light. Pothos. One of the most popular indoor plants, it is a climbing plant native to Asia, which needs humidity and indirect or artificial light.
  • Sansevieria. Although it is also known as “mother-in-law’s tongue”, it is a very pleasant plant to keep at home and is so strong and easy to care for that it can even adapt to the harsh climate of the bathroom. Native to Africa, its long, stiff, dark green leaves with light streaks also help purify the air.
  • Dracaena. Perfect for creating a vaguely tropical atmosphere, this plant is much more than just a seedling. It looks like a small tree with long, narrow leaves that are dark green or variegated and can grow up to two metres tall!

These are just a few examples. The important thing to remember is that not all plants are well suited to the bathroom environment, which is characterised by high humidity, temperature fluctuations and often low light levels.

When choosing your next plants for the bathroom, remember that they must be resistant to these conditions and not require too much care.
